Equity Home Improvement is an owner operated business that was established in 2019.
Born in 1980, I was raised on a farm and encouraged to help wherever I could. Begotten by humble parents, I learned from a very early age to appreciate what is given to you and to thank those who gave it. These life lessons have made me the person that I am today.
By the age of 10 years old, I had a lawn mowing business, serving 9 different customers on a weekly basis.
Somewhere around 1993, I began learning ‘what it takes’ to keep a property valuable. My Father had dozens of rentals and I was eager to learn.
When I acquired my driving license at the age of 16, I immediately put a lawn-mower in the trunk of an old, beat up $400 car, and made my way from Ohio all the way to the Californian Ocean in two weeks.
My very first ‘formal’ job was at a gas station, where I averaged 63 hours a week over the course of 13 months. Why did I quit? I went for a 100 hour week, and took 1 day off in the middle… That’ll do it!
I went on to work in various trades for the next 20+ years. I continued work for my father, Commissioner of the North Linden District for 32 years. I reported directly to Tom Sutphen, President of Sutphen Firetrucks, concerning custom builds of trucks. I worked as Project Manager for Dan Goodwin of Midwest Maintenance, overseeing company projects for the state of Ohio.
In 2018, I was deeply effected by Covid. I realized then that life is short. This is when I decided to throw it all to the wind and start my own business.
